Mazda 6 MPS

Mazda has decided that they want to expand thier range with a new sports car.

The Mazda Performance Series (MPS) will be made in the popular Mazda 6 form.

The car is rumoured to use a turbocharged version of the 2.5-litre four-cylinder which will boost out about 280bhp.

Like the previous generation 6 MPS it will have a four-wheel drive system, a stiffened and lowered suspension with updated brakes. The car will do 0-60 in 6 seconds. The top speed is limited to 155mph. The model should arrive in 2010.

Mazda has plans for a saloon, estate and coupe versions. Mazda might even release a cabriolet and a hatch.

Mazda is also creating a hot hatch version of the 2 supermini, which will have a body kit and take form of the 2MPS, which will go on sale in 2009. Theres no word what engine it will have but it might have a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine with about 170bhp.

The price for this new MPS is not yet known, neither are auto insurance quotes.
