The rear-wheel drive Mercedes CLC has arrived.

The CLC is based on the old sports coupe, but the only difference is that the CLC claims over 1100 detailed changes.

Mercedes has decided to use the basis from the old C-Class sports coupe, and not the newer C-Class saloon, by doing this they have been able to keep the prices a lot lower and close to the price of the old sports coupe.

The CLC has nice styling, which tries to link it with the new C-Class, but with the old coupes doors and rear fender still being used.

Mercedes has opted to remove the window in the tailgate at the back of the CLC, which causes it to have little rear visibility, so Mercedes have decided to add parking sensors to all UK models.

The interior is almost the same as the old sports coupe, but it feels the same as the cabins of its main rivals, the Audi A3 and the BMW 1-series.

Although the interior might be a bit outdated the features and instruments in the car are really up to scratch. The optional equipment list is long and includes a Comand navigation and entertainment system, bi-Xenon headlights, a full-length glass roof and it can also come with a seven-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles.

The CLC is going to be on sale in the UK from June onwards, and it will come with a choice of six engines. You can choose from the 122bhp 2.1-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, to the 272bhp V6 3.5-litre petrol engine.

The CLC will range from £19,920 to £27,000 and the auto insurance for this car will be different between all auto insurance companies.

Price: £19,920 – £27,000 | $40,000 – $54,000
Auto Insurance: Similar to older model
