The new Ford Fiesta is about to go topless. The new supermini will be revealed at the British Motor Show next week. This is the cabriolet version, which is set to hit the roads in 18 months’ time. The new Fiesta has already caused a stir with both fans and rivals in the three-door form. The cabrio version will be rivaling the success of the Peugeot 206 CC.

The Fiat 500 is likely to be the inspiration of the Fiesta Cabrio. Ford currently offers a coupe-cabriolet version of the larger Focus, but the Fiesta open-top model will have a fabric roof.

The use of a fabric roof allows the weight to stay to a minimum and keep similar performance, emissions and fuel economy.
