Mercedes-Benz SLK with gullwing doors

A new Mercedes-Benz car will soon be revealed. The new SLK Gullwing is meant to be a baby brother to the SLC supercar, which is still coming. The SLK Gullwing will be a hybrid model as well.

The model will feature doors which are connected to the middle of the roof, and it will sit at the top of the new SLK range.

This SLK will use battery packs in the side sills, so this allows them to use gullwing doors on the model. The SLK will use lithium-ion battery technology similar to the Blue Zero E-Cell concept which was at the Detroit Show.

The batteries will drive an electric motor which will run of around 120miles before it will need to be recharged. The SLK will use a petrol engine as well. The engine is expected to be a 3.5-litre V6 and it will be helped out with brake-energy regeneration and stop-start.

The baby gullwing is expected around 2012, and it will still be rear-wheel-drive with good performance. The car is expected to get from 0-100km/h in around 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph.
