Vauxhall’s VXR8 Bathurst S with a Walkinshaw 122 Supercharger

Opel’s Great Britain variant, Vauxhall, have created a new supercharged version of the Holden Commodore based HSV Clubsport R8. The Bathurst 6.0-litre V8 features a glorious 560-hp, thanks to a Walkinshaw 122 Supercharger.

The Walkinshaw 122 Supercharger not only boosts power, but also the torque, which now sits at 715Nm, which is quite a jump from the standard 550Nm. At the moment there are no performance figures available, but the standard 431-hp VXR8 with an automatic ‘box was able to get from 0-96km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Vauxhall have not only added a supercharger to the engine, as they also included a large capacity intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, a separate cold air intake and a Walkinshaw-developed ECU map, and also a new high-torque capacity clutch.

There will also be the option of a Bi-Modal Exhaust which will raise the power by 10-hp and it will allow the driver to choose from two noise settings, a ‘Street’ sound or an ‘Optimum’ sound.

Other modifications include new six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers, height-adjustable springs and a Walkinshaw-developed coil-over damper which will have 15 separate valve settings with independent corner adjustment.

The exterior will feature a new graphic pack, front fog light covers and a some ‘Bathurst’ badges. The interior will feature a console-mounted badge which will show the car’s build number, and a ‘Walkingshaw Performance’ tread plate inside the door opening.

There will only be a limited number of Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst S models made, and the price is set at £44,995.
