It has been reported that the Audi RS5 will feature a 4.2-litre V8 engine with about 331kW and it will rival the BMW M3. The same engine is currently used in the S5, but the R model will have an extra 96-hp. Expect a seven-speed DSG ‘box as well as a  six-speed manual.

Obviously Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive will be standard, and you will then be able to expect the RS5 in the middle of 2010.

Many people might be wondering why the R8’s 5.2-litre V10 engine is not in the RS5, well, that would either be due to fitment issues, or it might be too powerful to compete with the M3.
