Shanghai Auto Show: VW Passat Lingyu

Volkswagen have unveiled their Passat Lingyu at the Shanghai Auto Show for 2009, where the model features a new front and rear-end design. The Passat Lingyu will have a 2803mm wheelbase with loads of space for rear passengers. There will be two powertrain options which include a V6 engine and 1.8-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with 160-hp and a 6.2-litre per 100km fuel economy.

Dr. Winfried Vahland, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, said: “VW sales figure in the first quarter of this year has clearly exceeded our expectation at the beginning of the year. We have complemented our product portfolio with our new locally produced stars Passat New Lingyu and New Golf. Additionally, we have displayed the most advanced and environment-friendly technologies.”
