Porsche are currently testing their next-generation 2011 Cayman, as our spies caught the test mule in South Africa undergoing some routine heat testing. The 2011 Cayman will apparently be manufactured under a new deal with Austria’s Magna Steyr. We’re expecting a new platform for the 2011 Porsche Cayman with a wider track.

Porsche should create the new Cayman to be a little bit bigger than the current model, and with the size improvements we will see handling and dynamics improvements as well. As for the powertrains, it might still be a bit early to determine the exact engine range, but we can predict that the Cayman should feature a familiar flat-six engine with good emissions and fuel economy.

Obviously Porsche will release a model with a PDK dual-clutch gearbox and a standard six-speed manual ‘box.
