Apparently its been rumoured that the Hyundai Tucson will be replaced by a production version which is based on the ix-onic concept which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. News on this is pretty scarce, and there is no word on whether or not the new Tucson will share any mechanical specs with the ix-onic concept.

However, if there is any mechanical-sharing going on, we’re expecting that this might be the first production Hyundai with a twin-clutch gearbox.

The ix-onic features a 125kW 1.6-litre engine with a turbocharger and direct-injection. This would fit quite nicely inside the Tucson along wit the six-speed twin-clutch box.

We’re expecting this model to arrive in 2010.

  1. Yes Dean, i've spoken about the Tucson/ix-onic on my site extensively. This is the concept for the production car and it is expected to debut by the end of this year. The Tucson has also been spotted testing on Indian roads, but no photo proof yet!
