The latest, and greatest Audi A8 has been caught undergoing testing in Germany. The new A8 flagship was caught before it goes on sale in 2011, and the images reveal a prototype with a newly styled dashboard as well as the new automatic gearbox.

On this model you can expect changes to include new wheels, and a new steering wheel, as well as upgraded performance parts and also more exotic materials which should keep the weight down, and also help with aerodynamics.

The car here is currently using the old sheet metal, but the interior seems to be new.

Expect a new engine such as a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 unit with 290-hp in the V8. Buyers will be able to choose from a naturally aspirated V6 and V8 petrol unit as well. There will be diesel units, and it is rumoured that there will be a 6.0-litre V12 unit, as well as the 5.2-litre V10 unit for the S8.
