The Saab and Koenigsegg deal is expected to be completed around the third quarter of this year, where the new agreement will allow the dealerships to continue selling models under the new owner, where Koenigsegg will also be able to drop dealerships where they see fit.
“As part of the proposed transaction, GM will continue to provide Saab with architecture and powertrain technology during a defined time period,” GM said when it confirmed Saab’s sale to Koenigsegg. “Additionally, Saab plans to produce its next generation 9-5 models in the Saab production facility in Trollhättan, Sweden.”
According to GM the company was planning a new 9-4X for 2011, and this will replace the 9-7X. Saab will also be planning a new 9-3 model to replace the 9-5 in 2010. All of these projects will feature the help of Koenigsegg.
