Rumours and reports (yes, both of them because we cannot decide which one it is..) have said that the next-generation Mazda RX-7 will be in concept form at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show in October.

The RX-7 will apparently use the RX8’s rotary engine and then become the flagship rotary model. The new RX7 will have a design that is influenced by the Nagare concept and it will only go on sale around 2012.

“This year’s TMS is an opportunity for Mazda to cash in on RX-7 fever as rotary enthusiasts start to wonder what’s going to happen once the RX-8 ends its production cycle,” reports BestCar.
