So Michael Schumacher is returning to Formula One, hey? Well, was the original idea. Sad news ladies and gents, it has been reported that the seven-times world champion will not step in to replace the injured Massa.

The German racer recently tested a 2007 car where it was reported that his health was not up to scratch after his motorcycle accident in February.

Schumacher has said that he cannot do this anymore, he’s now 40 years old and he would think that it is best that he stays retired due to these injuries.

“I really tried everything to make that temporary comeback possible, however, much to my regret, it didn’t work out,” said the German.

Schumi confirmed the problem with his head and neck during these statements.

“That is why my neck cannot stand the extreme stresses caused by formula one yet,” he explained. “I am disappointed to the core. I am awfully sorry for the guys of Ferrari and for all the fans which crossed fingers for me.

“I can only repeat that I tried everything that was within my power. All I can do now is to keep my fingers crossed for the whole team for the coming races,” said Schumacher.

Ferrari said that they will instead use test driver Luca Badoer who will drive in Massa’s car starting from the Valencia Grand Prix.

“We have decided to give Luca Badoer the chance to race for the Scuderia after he has put in so many years of hard work as a test driver,” said president Montezemolo.
