BorgWarner has announced that they will be the official supplier of turbochargers for the 2.5-litre Audi TT RS engine. The 2.5-litre turbocharged engine from the TT RS will boast a 9.2-litre per 100km fuel consumption, while the acceleration will be set at 4.6 seconds for a 0-100km/h sprint.

“As the first to combine gasoline direct injection with turbocharging in volume production years ago, Audi is once again setting new standards in performance and driving excitement,” Tim Manganello, BorgWarner CEO said in a release. “BorgWarner is pleased to contribute our advanced technologies to these powerful new engines.”

The technology will be integrated with original Audi parts, and the main aim of the new turbochargers is for a special geometry with a low weight.

BorgWarner has said that the turbochargers will have a large compressor impeller, where the timing drive system will manage the increased load of air flow, and power in the engine.
