The 9th of September will see McLaren unveil their latest supercar which is pretty much one of the most anticipated cars of the year. There have been months and months of spy, and also official details revolving around the MP4-12C model.

The new, codename P11, supercar will go on sale in 2011 and it will be the successor to the original F1 supercar designed by Gordon Murray. The new P11 will face off against the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari 458 Italia.

It was said that the MP4-12C will have a carbon-fibre body, along with other new technologies such as a ‘brake steering’ system. This system will allow the driver to brake either the rear wheels through a selectable second brake, and this will reduce wheel spin and understeer.

Power will come from a 6.0-litre V8 petrol engine with twin-turbochargers, where the gearbox will be a 7-speed unit that will handle 600 to 700-horsepower from the engine. Although this is meant to be a supercar, the company will not rule out features such as Wi-Fi technology, an on board computer and a self adjusting suspension system.

There will be three new models from McLaren over the next six years, and this is only the start. The price tag for the P11 / MP4-12C will get set at about £150,000 (US$246,000).
