Hyundai has officially revealed the new Sonata in its home market today, where the four door sedan will be ready to shock the market.

“The Sonata will set a new standard for world class mid-size sedans with state-of-the-art technology, superior build quality and emotional design,” said Euisun Chung, Hyundai’s Vice Chairman at the launching ceremony for the car in Seoul. “The new Sonata will raise Hyundai’s brand values.”

The Hyundai Sonata is revolutionary on its own as it features a load of new design cues from the four-door coupe segment, as the swooping roofline is clearly visible. There will be a new fresh interior with new products from the Hyundai ix35 SUV which was recently revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Hyundai’s new sedan measures in at 4,820mm long, 1,835mm wide and 1,470mm tall where the wheel base is set at 2,795mm.

Engines in the new sedan will be the 2.0-litre Theta II MPi petrol engine with 165-horsepower, as well as an LPG version with 144-horsepower. Both of these engines will be connected to an automatic transmission unit.

More engines will of course be added to the range next year, after the car has been on sale for a short period of time.

All of the new Hyundai Sonata’s will come with equipment such as the Vehicle Dynamic Control with Hill-start Assist Control and Brake Assist System functions, while the visual changes include a new three-piece sun roof. There will be other things such as parking assist to help the driver as well.

Pricing will start at 21.3million Won when it goes on sale.
