BMW are celebrating a very special anniversary as it seems to be the 25th year of the M5 sport saloon. As a present to themselves, BMW has created a new one-off E60 M5 CSL model.

The Motorsport division at BMW has said that this is “the M5 CSL we never built”.

The special edition M5 CSL boasts a 5.5-litre engine with a about 580-horsepower and 540Nm of torque (the real figures have not yet been released). These figures have been speculated by Herr Hiermann, a Motorsport employee.

Changes to the exterior of the BMW M5 CSL include a new set of air ducts, a new front bumper and a load of carbon fibre. The engine has been connected to a seven-speed double clutch gearbox and this will allow for paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

There has been a weigh reduction of 50kg as the Bavarian automaker has removed the roof and replaced it with a carbon fibre unit.

Sadly, BMW has no plans for production of the M5 CSL.
