GM Will Discuss Other Possible Options For Opel

General Motors might have a Plan B to keep the Opel brand. The General is currently undergoing a meeting to decide on whether or not the Magna International and Opel deal has broke European Competition laws.
“At the moment, the GM board is having a new discussion on this, taking into account the letter from Mrs. Kroes,” Opel Trust Chairman Fred Irwin was quoted
“They will meet today or tomorrow and reach a decision. I assume, because they also think pragmatically, that they will reach a sensible solution.”
Kroes said that it was unfair that the German government would offer funding if the Magna/Sberbank consortium win the bid.
Alongside the cash issues, Magna are currently having problems with the Spanish workers which seem to reject the new restructuring plan. The large cut in jobs has caused the workers’ union to meet up regarding a possible strike.
General Motors has currently denied all options of keeping the Opel brand.
