The AMG division at Mercedes-Benz has said that they are currently considering a number of different fuel sources for future cars. A Whatcar report concerning Oliver Wiech, the AMG product manager, said that the future models should not exclude the possibility of diesel powertrains.

“We are taking an open view and looking at lots of options,” Wiech said, “but if you look at our announcement on the electric SLS, you can see what is in the future.”

The report means that you can pretty much expect electric power, along with the chance of a diesel model making an appearance. Things such as hydrogen and solar energy are only secondary options for the performance cars.
