Chrysler & Fiat’s 5 Year Plan — 2010 To 2014 Will See New Fiat Based Cars

The Chrysler Group LLC, along with Fiat, have presented the firms long term plan for the next five years. The plan was revolved around how Fiat would save the US automakers future, and how they will keep it from going down.

There were many interesting points brought up in the conference, and this included the new Chrysler logo, as well as the 2010-2014 plan for the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Trucks brands.

The five year strategy will start with most of the cars being based on Fiat platforms, as their partnership will definitely allow for this.

Jeep’s future: 2010 will see a new Grand Cherokee, while the Patriot, Compass, Wrangler and Liberty models will all be refreshed. There will then be a new Wrangler update for 2011, and this includes a new interior. 2013 will see Jeep receive three new models based on Fiat platforms. These models include a small SUV, as well as a common replacement for the Patriot and Compass model, and finally a new Liberty.

Chrysler’s next few years consist of: a redesigned Sebring and 300 sedan, while the 2012 year will see a new Fiat-based compact sedan join the range. The year 2013 will see three other new products based on Fiat platforms and they include a small car similar to the Punto, a new Sebring successor and then a new midsize crossover. The year 2014 will then see a Town and Country minivan being presented.

Dodge will see new refreshed versions of the Avenger and Journey models, while the Charger will be fully redesigned. There will be a new full-size CUV as well as a new Nitro facelift for 2011. The Viper will be refreshed in 2012. The 2012 year will also see a new Fiat-based compact sedan which will replace the Caliber. 2013 will then see two new Fiat models being added to the range: a new small car and a replacement for the Avenger sedan. The Grand Caravan will then be replaced in 2014.

Ram Trucks will changed as there will be a new mid-sized pickup introduced on a normal car platform for 2011. There will then be a Fiat-based small and large pair of commercial vans for 2012.
