Mercedes-Benz is apparently planning to create another stand-alone sports car as a follow up of the AMG-first SLS 2011. The AMG company will head this project, once again, where they would add a smaller V8 coupe to the line up.

The smaller coupe will challenge the Porsche 911 for sales, and street cred.

At the moment Mercedes-Benz is focusing on a good, and successful launch for the SLS AMG as this is the performance departments first ever stand-alone creation. The news regarding a smaller V8 coupe is only about five years away.

The new baby-SLS will have an engine smaller than 6.0-litres, and it should feature cylinder cut-off technology.
