Schaeffler Group Drops The CO2 & Fuel Figures On The Porsche Cayenne By 10%

A German tuning company called Schaeffler Group has created a new concept vehicle which is based on the Porsche Cayenne V8. The modified model is said to deliver about 10.1% better fuel economy and then also reduce fuel emissions by about the same amount. The car is known as the CO2ncept-10% and it is on display in Germany, at the ATM/MTZ Congress in Esslingen.

Engine modifications count for most of the changes, and there is a new hydraulic cam phaser with electromechanical units, new side intake switching tappets, and a new VarioCam Plus valve system that allows for a 4.1% reduction in fuel alone.

“To us, the CO2ncept-10% is impressive proof of a continuing optimization potential that is also closely related to volume production,” said Dr. Robert Plank, Manager of Corporate Engineering at Schaeffler. “CO2ncept-10% is the sum of its components, and these components are only a few from the Schaeffler Group’s portfolio that allow similar levels of energy efficiency optimization to be reached for vehicles from other segments.”

No weight was dropped on the vehicle, and the engine remains the same.
