The 2011 Ford Mustang GT Now With 412-Horsepower
New Cars | Dean | December 30, 2009 at 03:44The Mustang 5.0, or 302, will make a comeback next year where it will first be available on show in Detroit next month. The new model will have a 5.0-litre V8 engine with a 32-valve Twin Independent Variable Camsaft Timing system which allows for 412-horsepower with 390lb-ft of torque. This is a massive increase when compared to the 2010 Mustang GT with 315-hp from the 4.6-litre V8 engine.
The V8 engine will weigh in at 195 kg and this is a massive 20-percent drop when compared to the previous unit. There will be an automatic transmission and this should allow for about 17/25 mpg in the city and on the highway. The six speed manual ‘box will allow for 16/24mpg.
There are no performance figures, however the old 315-hp model got from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds, so this should be a bit quicker.
Ford has added a new Electric Power Assist Steering system, 11.5-inch front and 11.8 inch rear brakes, and enhanced suspension kit and a new stiffened rear stabilizer set.
Wheels will come in the size of 19-inches.
