Geneva 2010 — Ferrari’s 599 GTB HY-KERS: A Green Ferrari!

Ferrari has put their 599 GTB Fiorano HY-KERS prototype on the stands at the Geneva MOtor Show. The new prototype is expected to show us the development of hybrid technology in the brand, as they aim to go green without losing performance.

The hybrid system found in the 599 GTB model will boast an electric motor connected to the rear of the dual-clutch 7-speed F1-styled transmission. This will run with a flat set of lithium-ion batteries which are situated below the floorpan of the car.

Expect about 100-horsepower from the electric motor. There will be kinetic energy recovery to recharged the batteries, and this will occur under braking.

The combustion engine in the 599 GTB will be a V12 unit.

Oh, this model is expected to be faster and more efficient than the standard model.
