Miscellaneous, Reports | Dean | April 30, 2010 at 03:06

Tesla has chosen a new production facility on the West Coast. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the West Coast factory will build the body, chassis and doors. Furthermore it will handle the metal stamping, panting and powertrains needed.

The CEO said that there will be a previously-built factory used by the electric brand. Unfortunately there are no further details on this.

Tesla will use the West Coast plant to build the Roadster and Model S.

Following this, the Model S is planned to arrive in 2012. Tesla has already chosen 80 percent of the parts to be used where they are currently looking for a transmission supplier.

Pricing should start at around $50,000.
