TVR have said that they are planning to use a Corvette engine to save on homologation and development costs. TVR owner, Nikolai Smolenski said that TVR “looked at every engine available – including making our own – and decided that the Corvette was the most powerful off-the-shelf design going. Fitting it to our chassis allows us to meet all current regulations and is not too big a step.”

No word on which engine to be used, but possible options include: the 321kW LS3 V8, the 377kW LS7 V8, and finally the 476kW supercharged LS V8.

Loads of potential from these motors. No doubt.

TVR’s latest convertible will boast styling similar to the Tucsan where it will run on a steel chassis. Pricing will rival the Corvette, despite the similar engine range.

Following the power-hungry ‘Vette-powered ‘vertible, the automaker said that they would like to introduce a hybrid model.

Nikolai said, “I always wanted an automatic model, but the chassis wouldn’t allow either a regular auto or an automated manual. The hybrid concept would allow us to kick out the conventional gearbox completely.”
