BMW To Create Sub-1-Series Hatchbacks With Front-Wheel-Drive

BMW will launch a brand new set of front-wheel-drive hatchbacks during the next few years. One of these models will be added below the 1-Series in 2013. The sub-1-Series BMW will rival the Audi A2 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class range.

It’s said that there will be a similar body style to those two models. This means, a high roof with five doors, a transversely mounted engine and gearbox along with a shorter bonnet and more cabin space.

There will then be a sporty model added to rival the Audi A1.

Main reports, other than the new vehicle, state that BMW will offer the 1-Series with front wheel-drive. The architecture will be similar to that of the MINI range.
