Recent reports have said that Jaguar will launch a hybrid vehicle in 2013 or 2014. CarMagazine reports that the hybrid should boast a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine connected to a 35kW electric motor. There will be an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission sending power to the road.

The first hybrid is expected to take shape as the XJ.

Jaguar is said to be considering range-extending hybrids — similar to the Chevrolet Volt. These models will consist of lithium-ion battery packs, an electric motor and a combustion engine. No electric vehicles here, just yet.
