McLaren turns 20 years old this year and to celebrate this the firm has invited owners to a dinner at its Technology Center. McLaren was proud to have 21 F1’s rounded up together, and this is probably the largest amount ever seen together at once.

Ron Dennis, McLaren chairman put forward his feelings for the car: “The F1 is a technological tour-de-force and a real triumph in terms of packaging and design.”

“Whether endurance racing or on road, it is supremely fast, agile and yet comfortable. Its styling is enduring and will never fade. I enjoy driving mine more today than ever before because I find its technical purity highly satisfying; the F1 remains one of McLaren’s proudest achievements.”

The McLaren F1 has spawned 72 different road cars, and six other prototypes. It was designed by Gordon Murray, a South African, and it has been the winner of many LeMan’s races.

F1 variations include:

Road Cars:

  • 64 F1’s
  • 5 F1 LMs
  • 3 F1 GTs

Racers:

  • 28 F1 GTRs

We were lucky enough to go for a drive in the F1 earlier this year, and yes — it’s everything you’d hope for.
