New details on the BMW X3 state that the SUV will boast sportier styling, the 3-Series platform and new dimensions for the 2011 year. There will be more interior space for packing bags, and passengers – of course. The weight is expected to drop by around 20 to 25 kilograms, despite the increase in size.

Expect new interior upgrades with better design and quality.

BMW will launch the 2011 X3 with a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine boasting 200kW and a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder producing 225kW. The diesels start with a 135kW 2.0-litre turbodiesel and a 180kW 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbodiesel.

The above engines will be connected to an eight-speed ZF transmission unit which uses all-wheel-drive technology.

After the launch BMW will release a few new engines into the range.
