The 42-year-old suspect named Toshiaki Hikiji fled the scene after the accident, however he was arrested an hour later.
Hiroshi Hamada, an unfortunate 39-year-old, died on the scene where other employees are still in critical condition.
The crash occurred at the Mazda-owned Ujina plant near Hiroshima.
“I pray for the spirit of the man who was killed, and pray for the recovery of the ten who were injured,” said Mazda President Takashi Yamanouchi in a statement.
Hikji apparently quit Mazda, however reports said that he was fired. The suspect also brought a knife with him where he threatened to kill people at the plant.
