Audi has finally revealed their brand new A7 Sportback in Munich. The new model will target the Mercedes-Benz CLS and BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo when it goes on sale later this year in Germany.

The A7 Sportback will offer new looks and a sporty approach to a rear hatch seating four through four-doors. The exterior and interior is very similar to that of the 2009 Detroit Concept, where most changes concern the head and tail lights, side mirrors and interior trim.

Audi’s new four-door-coupe will sit between the A6 and A8 model where it will offer 545-litres of loading space in the boot and 1,390-litres of space when the rear seats are down.

Engines for the Sportback include two petrol and two diesel units which feature energy regeneration and start & stop systems.

First up is the petrol range which includes the 2.8-liter FSI and 3.0-litre TFSI units. Both of these are connected to a S-Tronic dual clutch transmission with quattro all-wheel-drive systems. The 2.8-litre motor will pump out 152kW of power with 280Nm of torque where the 3.0-litre V6 will house 224kW of power with 440Nm of torque.

The 0-100km/h time on the 2.8-litre engine is 8.3 seconds where the top speed is 235km/h. Fuel-wise this unit will drink 8.0-litres per 100km/h. On the other side, the supercharged 3.0-litre motor will get from 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds where the top speed is 250km/h. Fuel ratings on this motor amount to 8.2-litres per 100km.

The basic TDI motor will offer 152kW of power from a 3.0-litre displacement. The fuel rating will be 5.3-litres per 100km where the 0-100km/h time clocks in at 8.1 seconds.

Audi’s diesel range will end with the 3.0-litre V6 TDI with 183kW of power and 500Nm of toque when connected to the S-Tronic transmission. The 0-100km/h time on this motor is 6.5 seconds where the fuel rating is 6.0-litres per 100km.

There was no word on an S7 or RS7 variant.
