Audi Launches The 4.2-Litre R8 Spyder

Audi has launched the 4.2-litre V8 powered R8 Spyder. The smaller, less powerful, R8 Convertible will boast a 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 299km/h.

The R8 engine will connect to a six-speed manual or R tronic semi-automatic gearbox. There will be quattro all-wheel-drive as a permanent, and standard, feature on all models. Audi said that the 4.2 R8 will consume 14.9-litres of fuel per 100km.

The 4.2 R8 will have 18-inch wheels with a standard suspension. Optionally, Audi will offer a set of 19-inch wheels with the magnetic ride adaptive damping suspension system.

Pricing starts at €121,000, or €35,400 less than the 5.2-litre model. Expect sales to begin later this year.
