There’s a chance that the next generation Ford Focus RS might boast a hybrid powertrain, similar to the one found in the Peugeot Hybrid 4. Sources told Autocar that Ford is in the early stages of developing a hybrid setup for the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine.

Essentially this means that the EcoBoost motor will connect to an electric motor on the rear axle allowing for an all-wheel-drive sport hatchback.

It’s hinted that the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine will pump out about 180kW where the electric motor would allow for a total output of over 200kW.

Following these hefty power hikes, the fuel consumption will decrease as well.
