The first details on the South African version of the 2011 BMW 3-Series have been revealed. The new model will be offered with four forms in South Africa: coupe, convertible, saloon and touring. Each of these models will boast new engines and small styling changes.

First up, the coupe and convertible models will use an electrically-retractable roof, where the styling for the front includes a wider kidney grille, extended front air intakes, bi-xenon headlights and new taillights.

Inside the new models BMW has added new upholstery styles, a sporty steering wheel covered in leather and an automatic suspension with sport features.

The engine range will include the N55 TwinPower engine which pumps out 225kW with 400Nm of torque. The N55 is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine which uses 9.1-litres of fuel per 100km. Following this, the Bavarian automaker added a new four-cylinder diesel motor with 135kW and 380Nm of torque. This motor will find its way into the 320d-badged vehicles.

Lastly, BMW has created a sport-orientated model called the Dynamic Edition. The Dynamic will offer 18-inch light alloy wheels, an M suspension system, more aggressive body parts, and a new paint job.
