In South Africa there are car guards almost everywhere. These are usually self-appoint guys with safety jackets protecting your vehicle while you run into the shop for, literally, five seconds. According to them, every time you make contact — you’ll need to pay. And that’s just how it works.

Now, have you ever wondered, do these guys actually help? Well, according to this clip: no.

The following was shot in Cape Town and it’s an interesting look into what could happen to your car under the watchful eye of the car guard.

Just to let you know, the guy in the last shot isn’t a car-guard — he’s a walking meter. Instead of the conventional ‘honesty’ payment system the council has employed these guys to walk around and collect cash for parking in certain areas. They aren’t really there to watch your car. But the others, without the meter device, are there to watch your car.

And to think two guards scored an Audi R8 as a tip..
