Emission Standards Force Honda To Kill Off The Civic Type R In Europe

Honda in Europe has announced that the Civic Type R will no longer exist as Euro V emission regulations have become a little too strict. The production of the Civic Type R for Europe will end in October of this year, where sales will stop in December.

Honda said that they have decided to kill the Type R as it does not meet Euro V emission regulations.

Production of the 3-door Civic Type R will continue in Swindon so that they automaker will be able to supply vehicles to Australia and South Africa.

Because Honda is ending production, the brand will offer a special event to celebrate the Civic’s life. Moreover, the brand will also drop prices so that more customers will be able to purchase the sporty hatch.

The new Civic will start selling in 2011 where a Type R has not yet been confirmed.
