Saab 9-5 — New Engines: Petrol, Diesel, And BioPower

Saab has announced that they will offer three new engine options for their 9-5 sedan: a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit, a 2.0-litre turbodiesel unit and a 2.0-litre turbocharged BioPower flex-fuel unit.

Saab’s 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol motor will boost out 134kW with 230Nm of torque. There’s a fuel rating of 7.8-litres per 100km with CO2 emissions of 179g/km.

The diesel motor will use 6.0-litres per 100km where the emissions amount to 159g/km. The 0-100km/h time on this motor is set at 6.0 seconds, and the power amounts to 142kW with 400Nm of torque. It can connect to XWD, making it the first Saab diesel with all-wheel-drive.

Finally the BioPower engine is capable of running on E85 or petrol. There will be 164kW of power with 350Nm of torque, regardless of what fuel you use. There will be two- or XWD available with this motor.
