Nissan enthusiasts who enjoy off-road adventures will be happy to hear that a brand new Navara will soon be able to overcome the tough terrain found in an overland excursion.
It is called the Nissan Navara Safari, and it was built in consultation with 4×4 expert, Glyn Demmer.
Demmer said that, “While the Nissan Navara in 4×4 guise remains a formidable off-road vehicle, we decided to specialise the Safari version and create a vehicle that is utterly suitable for overland trips.
“[T]he Navara Safari doesn’t lose any of its normal off-road capabilities, the addition of specialised extras just adds to its prowess as a long-distance ‘bundu basher’,” he concluded.
Nissan’s Navara Safari is based on the standard 2.5 dCi Double Cab 4×4 LE. The special edition will be able with either a six-speed manual, or five-speed automatic gearbox.
Setting the Navara Safari apart form the standard range is the set of special equipment that Nissan has tacked on. This includes all-terrain tyres, a front-mount nudge-bar that can house spot-lights, seat covers with storage pockets, SAFARI branded carpets, a rubberised load-bay that is covered for protection, underbody protection plates, custom-built protective rock sliders, and a removable tow-bar that has a capacity of up to 3,000kg.
Nissan South Africa Product Manager, Marinus Venter, stated: “In creating the Navara Safari we wanted to ensure that specialised extras were fitted not only to add value but to make off-road excursions even easier for our more adventurous customers.”
The Navara Safari boasts a 3-year/100,000km warranty and a 3-year/90,000km service plan. Pricing starts at R490,000 for the 6-speed manual and R496,000 for the 5-speed automatic.
